10 Minutes with Local Mural Artist Spray-K

The artist behind Hull's most photographed wall on growing up in Bransholme, painting fast and never looking back.

By Jordan Mills·26 May 2026·6 min read

Spray-K did not set out to become one of Hull's most photographed artists. The first walls were quick, borrowed spaces: shutters, boards, legal jams, anywhere with enough room to practise a line and enough light to see it properly.

These days the work is easier to spot. Big colour, clean characters, local references tucked into corners for people who know the city well. He talks about Bransholme, buses, football cages and the long route into town as naturally as he talks about paint brands and caps.

The thing he keeps returning to is permission. Not permission from a committee, but permission for young artists to take themselves seriously. If you can see your own estate on a wall, you start to think your story belongs in public.
